Competition of architectural design ideas for the new campus of the Gyumri branch of
the National Polytechnic University of Armenia
Enterprise Incubator Foundation announces a competition for architectural design ideas for the reconstruction of the new campus of the Gyumri branch of NPUA.
The aim of the competition is to collect interesting and innovative architectural design ideas for the reconstruction of the buildings located at 25 Achemyan str. and 2/1 Achemyan Str., Gyumri, Shirak region, RA, as well as their adjacent yards, for the new campus of the Gyumri branch of NPUA.
Competition principles
The new campus of the Gyumri branch of NPUA will be located at 25 Achemyan str. and 2/1 Achemyan str., Gyumri, Shirak region, RA, located on the land with a total area of 2700 sq.m., in the area of buildings in a state of emergency.
While preparing the architectural concepts, it should be noted that the mentioned buildings are considered historical/cultural monuments, constituting a part of the Kumayri reserve.
The main goal of this initiative is to change the format of Information and High Technology Education at NPUA Gyumri Branch, bringing it in line with international standards by introducing new curricula, schemes of trainings for trainers, establishing partnerships with the world's leading universities, and creating an exceptional environment where science and art will be part of technological education.
The campus will be equipped with IT/High-tech educational classrooms/ laboratories, offices and a co-working space for start-up teams.
The proposal must ensure organic connection of all the buildings and yard areas included in the branch complex, ensuring maximum comfort and effective use of the space, as well as, combination of historical/cultural appearance and innovative environment.

Participation criteria
The competition is open to legal entities - architectural design organizations, as well as individuals - individual architects - groups, students.
The competition will be held in one round. After the deadline for the submission of the applications, the projects will be evaluated by a committee, as a result of which the prize will be awarded to the participant with the highest points.
The evaluation committee will include representatives of IT/High-Tech and educational sectors as well as architects.
Note: Architects included in the committee and/or individuals, teams and organizations affiliated with them may not participate in the competition.
Award
One award is envisaged to be provided for the winning concept of the competition.
The award amount is 1,000, 000 AMD (including taxes, duties and other mandatory payments).
Application for participation
Tender projects must be submitted by May 2nd, 2022 (included), as follows:
- In case of submission in an envelope: EIF office, 21/1 Bagrevand Str., Yerevan 0062, RA;
- In case of submitting by e-mail: [email protected].
The digital files of the project must be submitted in PDF format (maximum 28 MB), as well as in JPG format (maximum of 2 MB):
- by a hard drive (in case of submission in an envelope);
- as attachments to e-mail or cloud links (in case of electronic submission).
The submitted file must comply to a size which can be printed on a single 800*1000 mm board, in order to be presented to the evaluation committee, partners and beneficiaries in an exhibition format.
Along with the submitted project (in an envelope or by e-mail) it is necessary to present the names of the author(s) of the project, the authors and all the persons who participated in the development of the project, and claim award share.
If the project submitted to the competition has more than one author, the award shares (as a percentage of the total amount) should be indicated along with the name.
Note: The winning project will be considered the property of EIF; regardless of the results of the competition, the organizer has the right to order the final design package from both participating and non-participating architectural groups, individuals or organizations.
About the Project
The initiative of the reconstruction of the new campus of the Gyumri branch of NPUA will be realized within the framework of the "Advancing High-Tech Education at the Gyumri branch of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia" program of the “Trade Promotion and Quality Infrastructure” project implemented by the RA Government and the World Bank based on public-private partnership.
