Cooperation Agreement with Microsoft

On January 30, 2007 the Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Government of Armenia and Microsoft Corporation which determines cooperation framework of the parties directed to improvement of the use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in the public administration, education sectors and business community in the Republic of Armenia, and promotion of e-government services in the country.
One of the main projects outlined by the Cooperation Agreement is the establishment of the Microsoft Innovation Center (MSIC) in Armenia aimed at three activity directions:
- Enabling Innovation, purposing to create a critical mass of academic and research activity to conduct basic and applied research in multiple IT field thus brainstorming solutions and stimulating breakthroughs and innovation development in the country;
- Partnership Acceleration, aimed at fostering the local innovation and digital inclusion and promoting cooperation between the private sector, academy and government to develop and increase the use of information and communication technologies in the country;
- Skills Development, offering a wide range of Microsoft training and certification programs and implementation of certain educational initiatives in Armenia.
Currently, key partners of this project (Microsoft, Government of RA and EIF) are involved in development of concept and business plan for the Center.
