U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global) in partnership with EIF and in coordination with the Government of Armenia is implementing a series of projects in Armenia to promote scientific and technological progress in the country by offering competitive merit-based grants.
The projects actively fund research across all fields relevant to the nation's needs. More importantly, they serve as models of world-class research management that teach scientists how to compete in a market-based economy where grant proposals and industry collaborations are essential. Bilateral grants competitions co-funded by CRDF Global and EIF provide support for research collaborations in basic and applied sciences.
The project is designed to promote the application of science and technology to economic growth, strengthen the ties between research communities and the industry, and develop entrepreneurial skills and business thinking among researchers and scientists.
For a nation to see lasting scientific and technological progress, its government must take on an increasing responsibility for the ongoing operations of these programs. The support that the Government of Armenia and EIF have already shown by co-sponsoring these initiatives are a validation of the value that the host country places on this institution and the model it represents.
